WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
The AEG is part of the National Aircraft Certification Branch. The Manager reports to the Chief, Project Management.
The AEG performs approvals of aeronautical product maintenance instructions and inspection programs. AEG provides maintenance specialists to sit on Maintenance Review Boards (MRBs) for aeronautical products to assess their maintenance requirements, including Instructions for Continued Airworthiness and MRB reports.
AEG members interact with the manufacturers, operators and foreign civil airworthiness authorities in addition to engineering and flight test specialists within NAC and other Civil Aviation staff.
The team, led by the Manager provides operational aircraft evaluation advice on the interpretation of regulations, standards, policies and procedures, and the provision of specialized maintenance programs guidance to other Civil Aviation staff members, Transport Canada, other government departments, delegates, the aviation industry, associations, international airworthiness organizations and the public.

The Aircraft Evaluation Group is part of the National Aircraft Certification Branch. The Manager reports to the Chief, Project Management.
1. Manages the Aircraft Evaluation Group, which performs initial and subsequent approval of all domestic and foreign aeronautical product maintenance instructions and inspection programs.
2. Plans and develops programs for the evaluation of new and existing aeronautical products to assess their maintenance requirements, including Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICAs) and Maintenance Review Board (MRB) reports.
3. Manages the availability of resource capability, including operational aircraft evaluation advice on the interpretation of regulations, standards, policies and procedures, and the provision of specialized maintenance programs guidance to other Civil Aviation staff members, Transport Canada, other government departments, delegates, the aviation industry, associations, international airworthiness organizations and the public.
4. Recommends priorities and approaches for the provision of specialized maintenance expertise to support the evolution of the regulatory framework by the Standards Branch by participating in international and domestic committees and working groups, and by providing leadership and operational direction for aircraft evaluation processes into evolving technology and maintenance methodologies applied to aviation safety.
5. Researches, identifies, assesses and documents risks to safety and recommends or approves potential risk management solutions and approaches.
6. Exercises Ministerial delegation of authority under the Aeronautics Act and the CARs.
7. On a national basis, manages the oversight of a Flight Authorization program for foreign State or Civil aircraft to establish criteria and issue or validate Flight Authorities for the operation of foreign aircraft not having a standard Certificate of Airworthiness in Canadian airspace.
8. Manages and directly supervises assigned human and financial resources, as well as Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) and administrative requirements; participates in the division management team; and as required, and leads / participates in multidisciplinary teams.

ED: Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma/degree in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience related to aircraft Maintenance or Manufacturing.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
OC: Applicants must meet the occupational qualifications for TI (Aviation):
• Possess a valid Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence
OR
• Holds a university degree, college certificate or a current membership in the American Society for Quality Control who have six (6) or more years of industry experience in the performance or supervision of aeronautical product manufacturing processes; Non-destructive specialist having ten (10) years in the field of non-destructive testing, preferably with an aircraft background and a C.G.S.B certification covering Radiography (Aircraft Structures), Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant and Eddy Current inspection are also employed
EXPERIENCE
EX1: Significant* aircraft maintenance engineering experience related to the inspection, maintenance, manufacturing, modification or repair of aeronautical products.
EX2: Significant* experience in the maintenance of fixed wing or rotary aircraft.
EX3: Experience in the development or the evolution of original equipment manufacturer scheduled maintenance program.
*Significant: Candidate has performed complex activities related to this task in a wide variety of situations.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION
AOC1 : Possession of an aviation related university degree/college diploma, or an acceptable Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) certification.
AOC2: Possession of a M1 and M2 rated Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer licence.
EXPERIENCE
AEX1 : Experience in the safety oversight and technical investigation within an aeronautical organization.
AEX2: Experience in the application of safety management systems (SMS).
AEX3: Experience in the flight operations environment (flight engineer, pilot, etc.)
AEX4: Experience with quality assurance systems or other equivalent aviation Maintenance or Manufacturing activities in an approved aviation Maintenance or Manufacturing organization.
AEX5: Experience managing human resources in a technical working environment.
