Call Centre (inbound): Provide general program and client specific information related to the benefit programs with the Department such as Employment Insurance (EI), Employer Contact Centre (ECC), Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS). These positions require prolonged sitting (up to 2 hours) with a headset as well as frequent repetitive keyboarding motion for inputting data in a work environment that contains background noise and constant exposure to a computer screen.
Processing: Render non-contentious decisions on applications for benefits administered by the Department such as Employment Insurance (EI), Canada Pension Plan (CPP) and Old Age Security (OAS). Decisions include validation of information and documentation received from clients and employers, assessment of eligibility and entitlement to services and/or benefits, establishment of over/underpayments and life cycle management of files. These positions require some use of headsets and constant exposure to a computer screen.
Extensive training and development opportunities will allow you to acquire a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of Service Canada’s programs and services. Working conditions require adapting to change, dealing with stress, and dealing with difficult conversations.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established for positions in the Ontario Region.
The pool may be used to staff similar positions within Employment and Social Development Canada, Service Canada, Ontario Region. It is essential that applicants specify which location/locations they are interested in. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A secondary school diploma or a satisfactory score on the General Intelligence Test 320 (PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma).

2. Experience in using technology (i.e. e-mail, word processing and search engines).
3. Experience in delivering services or programs to the general public involving obtaining and providing information requiring explanation or clarification.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Successful completion of the Payment Services Officer training will include successfully passing scheduled prescribed written tests and post training monitoring.
Must be willing and able to travel for training purposes.
Must be willing and able to work overtime as required.

EDUCATION:
You must provide proof of your education during the assessment phase. Candidates with foreign education credentials are required to provide proof of Canadian equivalency. Any applicable fees are the responsibility of the candidate.
Foreign certificates and/or diplomas must be assessed against Canadian education standards. The federal public service will accept any Foreign Educational Credentials as long as they are deemed comparable to Canadian standards, determined by a recognized credential assessment service.
The Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials (CICIC) assists persons who wish to obtain an assessment of their educational, professional, and occupational credentials by referring them to the appropriate organizations.

Failure to produce Canadian equivalency could result in being eliminated from the process.
Original diplomas, degrees or certified transcripts may be required and must be presented upon request. Failure to produce required documents will result in your application not being considered.
TRAVEL:
Please note that candidates (including employees of the Public Service) will not be considered to be in travel status or on government business and that travel costs will not be reimbursed. Consequently, candidates will be responsible for travel costs.
COMMUNICATION:

ASSESSMENT:
Testing/interviews will be conducted at locations of the employer's choice and may require candidates to travel to the test/interview location. (See section regarding travel costs.)

BILINGUAL IMPERATIVE POSITION:
To be considered for a Bilingual Imperative BBC/BBC position, you must be willing to undergo Second Language Evaluation testing OR you must already have Second Language Evaluation results at the BBC/BBC level (proof will be required).
Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
