We encourage you to apply! The Regulatory Operations and Regions Branch, Health Canada, is looking to recruit policy and data analysts to support various programs and functions including reporting, planning, and policy development.

Intent of the process

Intent of process:
The intent of the process is to hire individuals for acting positions, assignments or deployments, term and indeterminate appointments.

A pool of candidates will be created to fill similar positions with varying language profiles, conditions of employment and operational requirements at Health Canada.

The immediate need is to staff one position with a n English Essential profile.

Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics.

Notes:
1. Candidates must always have a degree. The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and may have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience in tracking and monitoring policy related issues.
• Experience in analysing the results of economic, socio-economic and statistical research.
• Experience in formulating recommendations to senior policy analysts

Asset Qualifications
• Experience in managing data including: preparation, analysis, data quality assessments and data clean up
• Experience contributing to briefing and decision-making documents (such as briefing notes, reports, decks, research papers, issue analysis reports, issue management reports etc.)
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams to meet project objectives and deadlines
• Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with internal or external stakeholders
• Experience contributing to the development of policy and/or program analysis and providing advice
• Experience contributing to the development of strategic or operational plans
• Experience preparing or extracting or manipulating or transforming data
• Experience using statistical software packages (such as SPSS or SAS or R) to analyze data sets or experience using data tools (such as SQL Developer, SQL Plus or COGNOS) to perform descriptive analysis of data
• Experience working in the area of compliance and enforcement, or with the Food and Drugs Act and its regulations
• Experience in working with a central agency (TBS, Finance and PCO) or corporate services (IMSD or SSC)
• Experience contributing to the development of strategic roadmaps and frameworks
• Experience writing business requirements, issues analyses, options analyses and feasibility analyses
• Experience leading working groups

Operational Requirements:
• Willingness and ability to work overtime on short notice.
• Willingness and ability to travel on occasion.
