EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE:
• Significant* experience researching, analysing and integrating scientific or regulatory information related to chemicals in food.
• Significant* experience evaluating the health risk of exposure to chemicals in food.
• Significant* experience providing information on food chemical safety issues to the public, industry or government.
*Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of the duties for a period of approximately two (2) years.
EDUCATION:
Master’s or Doctorate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in organic or analytical chemistry, biochemistry, or other specialization related to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE:
• Experience contributing to the development of guidance or information documents relating to chemical substances in foods.
• Experience contributing to policy or regulation relating to chemical substances in foods.
• Experience proposing risk management approaches based on the results of a health risk assessment.
• Experience reviewing or preparing human health risk assessments for contaminated sites or as part of proposed industrial projects in Canada.

• Knowledge of the Canadian Food and Drugs Act and its associated regulations relating to chemicals in food.

• Knowledge of the principles involved in evaluating human health risks associated with exposure to chemicals in food.
