Assessment accommodation

CSC's Internal Audit Sector provides independent, timely and objective assurance and consulting services to management in a professional, independent and objective manner. Team Leaders within the Sector are responsible for leading a team of auditors through all phases of audit and consulting engagements and are given an opportunity to learn about all aspects of CSC. Intent of the process

The immediate need is to fill one (1) indeterminate position within Correctional Service Canada. However, the results of this process may also be used to fill similar positions by various departments on a permanent or temporary basis.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION

- Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in a discipline relevant to the position (such as but not limited to business, public administration, commerce or economics).

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

- A professional internal auditing designation (CIA, CGAP, CISA), or a recognized Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA: CA, CMA or CGA).

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE

- Significant and recent experience* in the planning, conduct and reporting of audit projects (either internal or external auditing).
- Experience supervising the work of staff.
- Experience communicating information to senior management through oral and written presentations and briefings.

NOTE: (*) Recent and significant experience normally refers to having carried out these duties over a period of approximately two (2) years within the past five (5) years. Significant experience refers to the complexity and diversity of cases handled and the level of autonomy demonstrated which is normally associated with the performance of the duties for approximately two (2) years.

KNOWLEDGE

- Knowledge of audit methodologies and procedures.

ABILITIES

- Ability to synthesize information, to identify key issues and messages.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving priorities/requirements.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

- Willingness and ability to travel.
- Willingness and ability to work overtime.
- While the work is normally carried out within an office environment, an incumbent also needs to be willing and able to conduct field visits to correctional facilities and remote sites.
