We are recruiting experienced nurses to fill various positions available in remote and/or isolated First Nations communities in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and Quebec.

We are looking to hire the following two positions:
- Community Health Nurse
- Nurse In Charge (NIC)
Community Health Nurses deliver comprehensive and community health nursing services to remote and/or isolated First Nations communities within Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta and Quebec. They provide in-depth nursing knowledge, skills, clinical expertise and advanced judgment through consultation, clinical practice, leadership, and facilitate knowledge transfer through health promotion and disease prevention.
Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) works collaboratively with partners to improve access to high quality services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis. Our vision is to support and empower Indigenous peoples to independently deliver services and address the socio-economic conditions in their communities.
The First Nations and Inuit Health Branch supports the delivery of primary care services on-reserve in remote and isolated areas, where there are no provincial services readily available.

Recent* and Significant** experience providing Community Health or Primary Care nursing services.
Recent* is defined as within the last five years.
Significant** is defined as at least two years' experience with the candidate performing complex activities related to this task in a wide variety of situations in one or more of the following areas:
1. Community Health (Public Health and Home and Community Care)
2. Primary Care
3. Urgent or Emergency Care
4. Acute or Intensive Care
NURSE IN CHARGE:
Experience as program or project leader in delivery of health services.

Graduation with a degree in nursing from a recognized postsecondary institution.*
*Recognized post-secondary institution: Public or private institution that has been given authority to grant degrees, diplomas, and other credentials by a public or private act of a provincial/territorial legislature or through a government-mandated quality assurance mechanism. For greater certainty, also included are institutions authorized to grant specific academic credentials for specific academic programs.

COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE, NURSE IN CHARGE:
. Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance;
. Valid driver's licence or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver's licence;
. Medical Clearance:
a) A valid Category 3 pre-placement medical clearance (including dependents, if applicable) in accordance with Appendix A of the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard (http://www.tbssct.gc.ca/pol/doc-eng.aspx?id=12561§ion=text).
b) Agree to undertake a Category 3 pre-placement periodic health evaluation in accordance with Appendix A of the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard Schedule (http://www.tbssct.gc.ca/pol/doc-eng.aspx?id=12561§ion=HTML).
c) For persons proposed for relocation to an isolated post/remote location and who have dependents: a valid Category 1 medical clearance for their dependent(s) in accordance with section 4.2 of the Isolated Post and Government Housing Directive (http://www.njc-cnm.gc.ca/directive/index.php?hl=1&lang=eng&merge=3&did=4&vid=12&pv=1).
d) For persons proposed for relocation to an isolated post/remote location and who have dependents: consent to their dependent(s) to undertake a Category1 periodic health evaluation
in accordance with Appendix A of the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard Schedule (http://www.tbs-sct.gc.ca/pol/doc-eng.aspx?id=12561§ion=HTML).
. Willingness and ability to travel in small aircraft, off road vehicles and by boat in varied weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas;
. Willingness and ability to work in a rigorous, diverse and often demanding work environment;
. May be required to be temporarily reassigned to other communities as operationally required;
. Willingness and ability to perform on call duties, work after hours, and on weekends as required; and
. Willingness and ability to complete mandatory education/training relevant to the position.
COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE & NURSE IN CHARGE:
. Current valid registration as a Registered Nurse and a member in good standing in the province where the position is located.
FOR ONTARIO REGION ONLY - COMMUNITY HEALTH NURSE & NURSE IN CHARGE:
- Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months from date of application and prior to signing the letter of offer.
- Successful completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within six (6) months from date of application and prior to signing the letter of offer.
- If you are taking these courses solely to meet the conditions of employment requirements as part of this process then you will be reimbursed for the course fees.
- The courses must have been completed within the last six (6) months from date of application and prior to signing the letter of offer;
- You must have registered for the course after your date of application and you must complete the course prior to accepting an offer of employment in writing.
- You must submit the certification(s) of successful completion.
- Reimbursement can only take place once you become an employee (i.e. after you have accepted an offer of employment in writing and your start date has commenced).
- Should you refuse an offer of employment then reimbursement will not be made available to you.
- You cannot seek reimbursement from Indigenous Services Canada if you have been reimbursed already or if the fees has been covered by another organization.
