Work environment

Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) has an interesting and unique mandate by playing a role in supporting services and programs in communities such as health, education, economic development, housing, community infrastructure and social support. This process will initially be used to fill one vacancy. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions on a permanent or temporary basis.

Education:
A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
Experience in preparing functional space analysis with multi-disciplinary groups for medical facilities.
Experience delivering and providing client oriented technical services and advice.
Experience participating on multi-disciplinary project teams in the delivery of real property services and/or construction projects.
Experience delivering capital construction and renovation projects.
Experience reviewing, interpreting and analysing technical drawings, specifications, scopes of work and terms of reference.
Experience advising and negotiating with client organizations on complex issues.

Asset Qualification - Occupational Certification:
Journeyman certificate in a building trade or post-secondary training in a technical, scientific or
engineering field.
Enrollment and eligibility for obtaining Professional Project Management designation from the Project
Management Institute.
Professional designation as a Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or Certified Engineering
Technician.
Certified Engineering Technologist or eligibility for certification.

Asset Qualification - Experience
Experience in setting up and managing capital contribution agreements.
Experience working with First Nations, Inuit or Metis.
Experience in delivering government programs to First Nations including administration of contribution agreements in GCMIS.

Asset Qualification - Knowledge:
Knowledge of federal government contracting policies, procedures, and administration.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Valid driver's licence required, or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver's licence.

Willing and able to travel in small aircraft, off road vehicles and by boat in varied weather conditions to communities in remote and isolated areas.

Willing and able to visit construction sites where there is a requirement to crawl into tight and confined spaces, climb ladders and scaffolding, walk over unfinished or uneven surfaces, and wear construction site related personal safety gear.

Willing and able to work overtime.
