Duties

The Fleet Management Unit is responsible with ensuring that vehicles in Federal Policing are maintained in a safe manner and are compliant with various legislation and policies.

The successful Lot Attendant will be required to work in a fast paced environment with ever changing priorities. Among their tasks, the Lot Attendant will be expected to: perform minor maintenance tasks (i.e. perform jump starts); schedule and bring vehicles to vendors for preventative maintenance/repairs and complete compliance audits of vehicles.

The Lot Attendant must be comfortable with operating a variety of vehicles, including large (1 ton) pickup trucks. The Lot Attendant must be able to communicate effectively with internal/external partners. While the majority of the work will be outside of the office, the Lot Attendant will be required to complete some administrative tasks (such as: updating vehicle movements on databases).

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff one permanent full time position.

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future vacancies (including similar positions, on a term, permanent, or acting basis, at full or part time hours) located throughout Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley in British Columbia.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of one year and may be extended.

Should a Civilian Member be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to another category for the member. Notification regarding the Civilian Member appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

• Recent* experience operating a computer and using software such as MS Word, Excel, etc.
• Experience in operating large class 5 vehicles such as ½, ¾, and 1-ton pickup trucks and vans.
• Experience in operating vehicles equipped with trailers.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in performing minor vehicle maintenance, co-ordinating repairs, organizing vehicle parking, cleaning of vehicles OR installing/ removing transportation accessories in a work environment.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to lift and move heavy boxes and equipment weighing 22.7 – 27.2 kg (50-60 lbs).
• Ability and willingness to work overtime including evenings and weekends as required.
• Ability and willingness to travel as required.
• Ability and willingness to work under variable weather conditions.
