This is a full-time indeterminate position. The anticipated number of position(s) that may be staffed with this advertised process is one (1); however, a pool of qualified candidates may be established through this staffing process and may be used to staff similar positions with different tenures (i.e. on a term, acting or an indeterminate basis).

Diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
Experience leading field or laboratory projects
Experience with collection and identification of freshwater fishes, where collection includes more than one collection method
Experience with processing of fish samples in a laboratory
Experience in the field collection of one or more of phytoplankton, zooplankton, benthic invertebrate, or water chemistry samples
Experience in the lab processing of one or more of phytoplankton, zooplankton, benthic invertebrate, or water chemistry samples
Experience in the use of specialized equipment in the field (ex. Sondes, telemetry equipment, current meters, hydroacoustics gear, among other possibilities)
Experience in operating small boats or canoes
Experience in data input and data entry validation
Experience in use of spreadsheet or database software
Experience with basic statistical analyses and presentation of data
Experience with contributing to the production of scientific journal publications or technical reports
Pleasure Craft Operator Card
CPR and First Aid certificates
Electrofishing Certificate
Experience trailering and launching small vessels
Experience in troubleshooting and repairing small engines and/or powered field sampling equipment (i.e. outboard motors, ATVs, snowmobiles, pumps, or other applicable field gear)
Experience serving as a member of a workplace committee
Experience in taxonomic identification of one or more of phytoplankton, zooplankton, and benthic invertebrates
Experience in the maintenance and calibration of aquatic sciences field and/or laboratory equipment
Experience in the safe use and storage of chemicals in an institutional laboratory
Experience in fish ageing techniques
Experience using purchasing processes in a workplace setting
