Please note that for the purposes of staffing for Stream 2, Information Management (IM) is defined as the smart use of information technology and information systems to maximize the effective use of information and minimize the overhead/costs associated with the amassing of large quantities and disparate types of stored information.

Please note that for the purposes of staffing for Stream 3, Enterprise Environment is defined as the administrative responsibility for forty (40) or more virtual or physical servers as well as three (3) storage arrays.

Intent of the process

The immediate need is to staff three position on an indeterminate basis: an IT Business Line Support Services Analyst in Business Information Services (BIS) in CFB Halifax, NS; an Information Management Analyst in BIS in CFB Halifax, NS; and a Server Support Analyst in BIS in CFB Halifax, NS.

A pool of qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff similar positions at the same or equivalent group and levels with various tenures and security profiles.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Education (Required for All Streams):

ED01 - Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

NOTES:
1. Indeterminate period incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standards based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the CS group.
2. It is a recognized educational institution (e.g., community college, CÉGEP or university) that determines if the courses taken by a candidate correspond to two years of a post-secondary program at the institution.
3. At the manager's discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum post-secondary education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met via this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

Degree equivalency

Experience (Required for both Streams 1 and 2):

EX01 – Recent* experience in identifying and analyzing business requirements and formulating systems solutions and/or recommendations that meet client expectations.

EX02 – Recent* experience presenting ideas and plans verbally and in writing to both technical & non-technical audiences (example: colleagues & clients).

EX03 - Experience with corporate office suite software (specifically MS Office) to prepare correspondence, reports and documentation in standard formats.

EX04 – Significant** experience in maintaining knowledge of trends and developments in Information Technology.

Experience per Stream:

Stream 1 – IT Business Line Support Services Analyst:

EX05 - Experience in the development, planning and conducting of IT research and analysis activities.

EX06 - Experience participating in IT projects.

Stream 2 – Information Management Analyst:

EX07 - Experience in gathering, documenting, and analyzing IM requirements.

EX08 - Experience in providing IM recommendations to Management and/or Business Planners and/or Policy Makers.

For Stream 1 & 2:

* Recent experience is defined as being acquired within the last four (4) years.

** Significant experience is defined by the depth and breadth of the experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of various, complex activities which are normally acquired over a minimum period of two (2) years.

Stream 3 – Server Support Analyst:

EX09 – Significant* experience installing, configuring, and trouble-shooting various software and operating systems in an enterprise environment including the following:
- VMWare vSphere and vCenter products (Recent** experience with version 5.x or greater)
- Microsoft Windows Server Standard or Enterprise (Recent** experience with version 2008 or greater)
- Microsoft Exchange (Recent** experience with version 2010 or greater)

EX10 - Significant* experience installing, configuring, and trouble-shooting various software and operating systems in an enterprise environment including the following:
- Microsoft services including Active Directory, Group Policy Management, DNS, DHCP, and WSUS
- Linux Server

EX11 – Recent** experience documenting problems, solutions, and procedures in an information technology environment.

EX12 – Recent** experience configuring and resolving issues related to networking infrastructure that includes VLAN tagging and trunking as it pertains to servers and storage arrays.

For Stream 3:

*Significant experience is defined as being over a 6 year or greater period of time with the software/hardware technology.

**Recent experience is defined as at least two years of total experience, gained within the last three years as of 31 Dec 2018.

AED01 - College diploma or University degree relevant to the position being staffed.

AED02 - Training or certifications relevant to the position being staffed.

Degree equivalency

Experience (Common to Streams 1 & 2):

AEX01 - Experience preparing business cases and conducting option analysis or cost-benefits assessments.

Stream 1 – IT Business Line Support Services Analyst:

AEX02 - **Significant experience documenting business processes, and analyzing them to identify efficiency and effectiveness improvements.

Stream 2 – Information Management Analyst:

AEX03 - **Significant experience designing, documenting and implementing business processes, and analyzing them to identify efficiency and effectiveness improvements.

Stream 3 – Server Support Analyst:

AEX04 - *Significant experience installing, configuring and trouble-shooting Storage Area Networks (SAN) in an enterprise environment including:
- Dell/NetApp Storage Arrays
- Fibre Channel Infrastructure
- SAN/NAS Protocols including CIFS and NFS
- iSCSI Communications

AEX05 - Experience trouble-shooting complex workstation virtualization environments using either Citrix or VMWare products.

AEX06 - Experience in configuring and trouble-shooting Microsoft services including Sites and Services and Certificate Services in a multi-domain or child domain enterprise environment.

AEX07 – Recent** experience installing, configuring, and trouble-shooting Linux server installations in an enterprise environment using CentOS version 7.x or greater and/or SLES version 11.x or greater.

Operational Requirements (Required for Streams 1 & 2):

Willingness to travel, as required.

Willingness to work overtime, as required.

Ability to lift 20 kilograms.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance

Required for Stream 3:

Willingness and ability to sit for periods of up to four (4) hours per day.

Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.

Ability to perform physical activity including crouching, lying down or kneeling in confined spaces, reaching, bending and stretching.

Ability to lift up to 14 kg.

Willingness and ability to work overtime and standby as required.
