This position will be responsible for the continued development and operation of a computerized maintenance management system. The candidate will also participate in Building Condition Reports, infrastructure system analysis, labelling and monitoring of building systems and developing standard operating procedures. This position may also participate in project management and life cycle assessments.
A pool of qualified candidates will be created as a result of this process. This process may be used to staff similar positions of various tenures.

Successful completion of Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Successful completion of an approved post-secondary training program in the Mechanical Technology field and three years detailed experience in providing technical support and advice in the operations and maintenance of commercial office and special purpose facilities.
Or
Successful completion of an approved Trades Qualification program in the Mechanical field and five years detailed experience in providing technical support and advice in the operations and maintenance of commercial office and special purpose facilities.
Experience participating on project teams for the delivery of facility maintenance services or projects in commercial buildings.
Experience monitoring the performance of contractors.
Experience preparing technical reports.
Experience conducting physical inspections of industrial, commercial or institutional buildings.
Experience in Computer Maintenance Management Systems.
Membership in Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC or similar provincial affiliation.
Experience in using project management systems, such as the National Project Management System (NPMS).
Experience in participating in Building Condition Reports.

Knowledge of building codes, legislation, safety standards, policies, and regulations as they relate to industrial, commercial and institutional buildings and their occupants.
Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices as they apply to the operation of large buildings (Example: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, life safety systems, and building envelope
Knowledge of contract administration.
Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (Example: ISO, TQM).
Knowledge of Project Management
Ability to interpret drawings and specifications

Operational Requirements:
Willingness to work overtime
Willingness to respond to emergency situations outside of normal working hours
Physically capable of traversing rough terrain under varying weather conditions
Reliability Status security clearance
Possession and retention of a valid class 5 driver’s licence
Willingness to respond to emergency situations outside of normal working hours
Willingness to travel within the Province by car, truck, boat, helicopter, and/or to attend conferences that require overnight stays
Must be physically capable of climbing ladders, working at heights and in confined spaces
