The Royal Military College Saint-Jean (RMC Saint-Jean) is an institution of higher education offering college and university programs which initially opened its doors in 1952. Located in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (Qc), this institution offers bilingual programs to officer-cadets destined to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces. Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu is a medium-sized city located on the outskirts of the Montreal metropolis. Fort Saint-Jean, home or RMC Saint-Jean, is a historic site whose military presence goes back to the French regime. The first fort was built by the Carignan-Salières Regiment in 1666.

Intent of the process

*** "For successful candidates, the hiring will be done at the faculty rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Full Professor) of the candidate at the time of hiring. For candidates who do not hold a tenure-track position at a university at the time of hiring, the faculty rank that will be awarded upon hiring is that of "Assistant Professor". ***

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established from through this process to staff similar positions of various tenures within the Department of National Defence.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION:
Doctoral degree from a recognized university in one of the following fields: International Studies, Political Science, War Studies, History, Communication, Law or in a field related to International Studies.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
Recent* and significant** teaching experience at the university level in a field related to the position: International Studies, Political Science, War Studies, History, Communication, Law or in a field related to International Studies.

* Recent: 1 (one) year acquired over the past 5 (five) years.
**Significant: have taught at least two university courses.

Recent* and significant** experience in conducting research in a discipline related to one the following fields: culture, conflict and security; migrations and borders, or environment and climate changes, or political violence, or gender studies and armed conflicts.

*Recent: at least 1 (one) year acquired over the past 5 (five) years.
** Significant: proven experience of publication of at least 3 (three) peer-reviewed article in academic journals on topics in a field related to the position, or the publication of books or book chapters.

Experience in leading a recognized research group supported by independent funding.
Experience with teaching technologies :
- Delivery of distance learning courses.
- Distance course development.
Teaching experience at the college level.
Work Experience in an environment related to the military.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Be willing to travel occasionally.
Be willing to work according to a flexible schedule.
Be willing to work in a military environment.
