Q. As I complete the online application, I am being asked many questions regarding my experiences. Do I have to respond to them all? What will you do with my responses?
A. Yes, you need to respond to all of these questions with a simple yes or no response. Your responses will determine the type of opportunities you may be considered for.

Q. How do you conduct your searches from this inventory? Does the system do a word search of my résumé?
A. Searches are conducted based on your group/level of interest, and then your resume is reviewed to determine if you meet the experience.

Q. Can I email you my résumé?
A. No, all job applications, which include your résumé, must be submitted using the public service jobs web site. No résumés will be accepted via email.

Q. Will you use random selection when conducting your searches?
A. As a means to manage high volumes we may use random selection. For example, we may ask the system to provide us 50 random applications who meet our search criteria.

Q. Will an interview be conducted?
A. Yes, an interview will always be conducted. Since this is for casual opportunities and not for an appointment, the interview may be informal in nature and not based on specific merit criteria.

Q. Will you request references?
A. Yes, you should be ready to provide references from supervisors, clients and/or subordinates.

Q. I am currently in a pool of qualified candidates. Will I be considered for an appointment?
A. No, this inventory is only for casual opportunities.

Q. Will you post promotional opportunities?
A. Yes, we continue to post promotional opportunities throughout the year. We invite you to review the Government of Canada Jobs website on a regular basis.

Q. Where are your offices located?
A. All of our opportunities are located at 180 Kent Street and 427 Laurier Avenue in downtown Ottawa.

DEFINITION:
Casual worker is defined as:
Casual workers are hired for specified periods that may not exceed 90 working days in one calendar year, in a department or in an agency to which the Public Service Commission (PSC) has exclusive authority to make appointments. The period of casual employment may be for one or more than one term, but is not to exceed 90 working days in a department or agency in a calendar year.

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans and to Canadian citizens, in that order, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
