EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, aeronautical engineering, geological engineering, naval architecture or some other engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in radio frequency spectrum management.
Experience providing expert spectrum policy and International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Radio Regulations guidance.
Experience interpreting and analyzing radio frequency interference problems.
Experience in the field of wireless communications.
Experience in providing advice and recommendations to senior management.
Experience working with multiple stakeholders or other governmental organizations.
KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge in the management of the radio frequency spectrum, including the determination of spectrum requirements for new radio systems or technologies.
Knowledge of the theories and principles of analog and digital wireless communications (radars, satellites, micro-wave communications, mobile communications) to properly assess frequency management issues.
Knowledge of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development Canada’s spectrum management regulations, policies, standards, and procedures.
Knowledge of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Radio Regulations, and how to interpret and apply them.
ABILITIES
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to actively participate, represent, defend and promote Department positions at various national and international groups and committees.
Ability to analyze issues, assess impacts and develop options or solutions.

A post-graduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a related field.
Licensed Professional Engineer.
EXPERIENCE
Experience with engineering satellite communication systems.
Experience with military radio frequency systems.
