Here are examples of the key activities linked to this position:
• Conducts investigations of alleged minor violations of the Aeronautics Act, Canadian Aviation Regulations and related regulatory instruments; and assists Enforcement Investigators in the conduct of more comprehensive investigations.
• Exercises Ministerial delegation of authority under the Aeronautics Act and the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), and takes appropriate action in instances of non-compliance.
• As directed by the Regional Manager, Aviation Enforcement, researches, investigates and makes or proposes recommendations related to the Civil Aviation regulatory enforcement program within the Region.
• Prepares case reports for investigations; and proposes appropriate enforcement action to the Regional Manager, Aviation Enforcement.
• Assists the Case Advisory Officer in the preparation of court briefs and disclosure packages for the Transportation Appeal Tribunal of Canada or Court of jurisdiction.
• Acts as a Commissioner of Oaths in the swearing of affidavits with regard to subpoenas and the service of official notices of penalty.
• Researches and collects data in support of Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) requests.
• Provides advice and guidance on general aspects of the Transport Canada Aviation Enforcement Program to Canadian Aviation Document (CAD) holders, company representatives, and other external stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
- Secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives*
*A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience in interpreting and analyzing legislation
- Experience in preparing and revising documents
- Experience in providing advice to clients
- Experience in using a computer and computer applications software

ASSET EDUCATION:
Post-secondary training with acceptable specialization in paralegal studies and/or in a law-related field.
ASSET PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATION(S):
Hold or have held a Canadian aviation document, such as a pilot permit or license, air traffic controller license or an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the field of paralegal and/or law.
Secret security clearance
Must be willing and able to travel frequently
Must possess a valid Canadian driver’s license
