Assistant Chief Statisticians within the organization have substantial influence over a broad range of large complex statistical programs and professional services, which affect virtually every person in Canada.
Information developed by the Agency provides the foundational evidence for the development and improvement of public policies, legislation, regulations and programs. In this regard, the Assistant Chief Statisticians are accountable for providing corporate oversight and direction in support of the organization’s strategic outcomes and to provide access to timely, relevant and quality statistical information on Canada’s changing economy and society in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
This is a unique and significantly impactful opportunity to become a key contributor within numerous interdepartmental committees related to subject matter areas. The ideal candidate will need to plan strategically, communicate effectively, negotiate and influence, while maintaining a high profile liaison with various counterparts.

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE
EXP1 Experience managing significant financial and complex human resources matters
EXP2 Significant* experience collaborating and maintaining partnerships and networks with officials and stakeholders in the statistical community and beyond as required
EXP3 Significant* experience conducting and leading complex consultations and negotiations as well as building consensus with senior officials and key stakeholders
EXP4 Significant* experience leading and managing large operational programs, leading transformation, as well as developing and implementing complex, wide-scope agendas and strategies
EXP5 Significant* experience designing or leading large-scale change initiatives
EXP6 Significant* experience in providing strategic advice to senior officials and in making risk-based decisions and recommendations that have demonstrable impact on the achievement of organizational objectives
* Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired with having performed a broad range of various, complex related activities acquired over a period of approximately three (3) or more years.

ASSET EXPERIENCE
AEXP1 Experience leading the development of policy initiatives for Cabinet consideration
AEXP2 Experience liaising with indigenous organizations
AEXP3 Experience dealing with sensitive issues and conducting complex negotiations with federal/provincial/territorial clients
AEXP4 Experience developing and applying statistical methodology in the design and analysis of large statistical programs OR in the management of the design, collection, analysis and dissemination of a substantial program of socio-economic statistics
