Work environment

The Department of National Defence (DND) is one of the largest federal government employers. Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate vacancy. A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions on an indeterminate or term basis, including casual employment and with various security requirements.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

Possession of a valid unrestricted Manitoba Class 1 driver’s licence with air brake endorsement (or provincial/territorial equivalent)
Note: Restriction number one (glasses) is not applicable

An acceptable Clean Driver’s Abstract

EXPERIENCE

Experience in the operation of one or more of the following commercial vehicles: 49 Passenger Buses (minimum size), 5 Ton Cargo trucks, Tractor-Trailer combination vehicles.

Knowledge of traffic laws and safe driving practices.

ABILITIES

Ability to operate one or more of the following commercial vehicles: 49 Passenger Buses (minimum size), 5 Ton Cargo trucks, Tractor-Trailer combination vehicles
Ability to perform operator inspection and daily maintenance on one or more of the following commercial vehicles: 49 Passenger Buses (minimum size), 5 Ton Cargo trucks, Tractor-Trailer combination vehicles
Ability to communicate orally

An acceptable driver’s abstract dated no later than 60 days before the date of appointment which a candidate is notified of being considered for appointment
Must wear CSA approved safety footwear and other personal protective equipment (PPE)
