Assessment accommodation

You must provide concrete and detailed examples to clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience requirements listed in the essential qualifications and asset qualifications sections (below). The screening board cannot make any assumptions about your experience. It is not sufficient to say that you have the required qualifications or to list your current duties. One effective approach would be to write one or two paragraphs demonstrating how you meet each of the required experience and ensure that clear and accurate details are provided. The curriculum vitae may be used as a secondary source to confirm the experience described in the questionnaire.

Applications that do not clearly demonstrate that the candidate meets the screening criteria will not be given further consideration.

Work environment

Established in August 2009, the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) is the only federal department with an exclusive mandate for the North. The headquarters of CanNor is located in Iqaluit, Nunavut. CanNor also has regional offices in Yukon and the Northwest Territories, and a liaison office in Ottawa.

CanNor's vision is to develop a strong, diversified, sustainable and dynamic economy for Northerners and Indigenous people, communities and businesses across Canada's three Territories. As the smallest of the Government of Canada’s five regional development agencies (less than 100 staff in total), CanNor provides a unique opportunity for individuals looking to be part of a small but mighty organization that leverages its nimbleness to tackle some serious, high-profile socio-economic issues.

In short, this is definitely not just another boring old desk job! This is a rewarding opportunity for motivated and resourceful individuals to make a real difference in the economic and social wellbeing of northern residents; by working directly with communities and businesses, and witnessing first-hand the results of the government’s investments.

The intent of this process is to fill one (1) full-time indeterminate (permanent) position in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.
