Statistics Canada is a dynamic environment that values learning and has always invested in the training and development of its employees. We offer a full range of courses to meet employee needs, including second language training and computer, statistics, and subject-matter area courses.
The Employee Development and Wellness Division provides a language training program and other services to meet employee needs, whether or not they hold a bilingual position. On-site training is offered to employees through contracts with private sector suppliers. The language training program is offered early in employees’ careers to promote a bilingual, inclusive culture and to build bilingual organizational capacity. Various types of training are offered, including language assessment services, educational counselling and strategic human resources planning.
This process is anticipatory. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff similar positions within Statistics Canada with various tenures, various security requirements and various linguistic requirements.

EDUCATION
Degree from a recognized postsecondary institution with acceptable specialization in education, linguistics, sociology, psychology, mathematics, physics, home economics, or one of the following disciplines: journalism, translation, history, political science, social science, theology, communication, anthropology, sociology, philosophy or literature.

EXPERIENCE
EXP1. Significant** experience in providing language training advice to employees and managers.
EXP2. Significant** experience in developing second language learning tools and activities.
** Significant experience is defined as the breadth and depth of experience normally associated with performance of duties over a period of at least one (1) year.

EXPERIENCE
AEXP1. Recent* experience in evaluating the progress and performance of adults learners in language training for levels B and C, as defined in the public service’s Qualification Standards in Relation to Official Languages, and in making recommendations.
* Recent experience is defined as experience acquired over approximately the past three years.

GUIDELINES CONCERNING THE TRACK RECORD
• Ensure your response addresses the qualification being assessed.
• Provide concrete, specific examples of behaviors that illustrate the required
qualification.
• Choose examples with sufficient complexity, impact, and degree of difficulty
to allow you to illustrate the extent to which you demonstrated the
qualification.
• Focus on what you did, and make clear what your role was, apart from
others. Avoid phrases such as “we decided to”, “we organized a..”. When
discussing what others did, do so only as part of the context in which you took
action. For example, “ I organized a…”.
• Describe the example in the past tense. This will ensure that you are
providing concrete examples, rather than general statements.
• Do not use acronyms, as assessors may not be familiar with them.
• Please be sure to provide clear examples with approximately 2-3 paragraphs
• Use action verbs.
• Assistance to complete the track record will not be provided by management
(at any level)
• You are invited to complete the track record in the official language of your
