When submitting an application to this selection process, no cover letter is required. At the time of your application, you will be required to complete screening questions. When answering the screening questions you must provide concrete and detailed examples to clearly demonstrate how you meet the qualification. We can’t make any assumptions about your experience. Simply saying you have the required qualifications or listing your current duties is not enough. Instead, provide concrete and detailed examples that clearly explain where, when, and how you gained the experience. Should you indicate in your response "please refer to resume" your application will be rejected. We’ll only use your résumé as a secondary source of information. The breadth and depth of experience may be considered during screening, assessment and/or selection of candidates.
Do you want to contribute to a team that makes a difference in the lives of Indigenous peoples through the improvement of social well-being and economic prosperity and the development of healthier, more sustainable communities?
If so, Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) wants YOU to be a part of our team!
Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) continues to renew the nation-to-nation, Inuit-Crown, government-to-government relationship between Canada and First Nations, Inuit and Métis; modernize Government of Canada structures to enable Indigenous peoples to build capacity and support their vision of self-determination; and lead the Government of Canada's work in the North.
The Income Assistance Program provides funding to eligible First Nations individuals and families to cover essential needs such as but not limited to food, clothing and shelter. The Social Worker provides a range of assessment, counselling, case management and pre-employment supports to clients to ensure they receive eligible income supports and are connected to the services necessary to maximize their individual well-being and self-sufficiency. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Investments within a federal government organization, client services office, the social worker plans and coordinates a regional income support program for Aboriginal people. Income Assistance case management and employment support is provided through an approach that identifies clients’ individual barriers to employment and/or education and then establishes with clients a personalized action plan to address barriers using a continuum of programs and services. Ultimately, case management supports a client’s achievement of safe, realistic and reasonable goals.
