Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) manages one of the largest and most diverse portfolios of real estate in the country and is the Government of Canada’s real property expert. We are actively looking for motivated and energetic engineers with a background in project management who are eager to work in a professional and dynamic organization.
The position is with the Environmental Services and Contaminated Sites Management Directorate of Public Services and Procurement Canada. The successful candidate will be a member of the Northern Contaminated Sites (NCS) team. The NCS team manages the remediation projects at contaminated sites in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut on behalf of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada. The job is office based but some site visits and travel for meetings is required. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day project management duties associated with delivering environmental remediation and closure projects.
The main duties of the position involve:
- Managing project development and delivery from planning through construction and evaluation;
- Providing strategic real property advice to clients, including cost-benefit analysis;
- Providing contract administration and specifications from project definition through to construction and commissioning stages;
- Conducting quality assurance and reviews; and,
- Managing the development of project management plans, designs, risk management and contingency plans, cost estimates and specifications.
Note: ENG 04 projects are complex with a moderate value whereas ENG 03 projects have a minor value.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in an engineering specialty relevant to the duties of the position
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Eligibility for certification as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience* in project management of real property projects related to environmental, geotechnical, civil or mining projects.
* The ENG 04 position will require significant experience which is defined as the depth and breadth of experience associated with full-time performance of these duties for a period of approximately 5 years in the last 8 years. The ENG 03 will require recent experience in support of real property projects which is defined as the depth and breadth of experience associated with full-time performance of these duties for a period of approximately 2 years within the last 4 years.
Experience in managing contractors, consultants, and/or project teams and liaising with clients and/or stakeholders.
Experience with real property procurement processes and contract management.
Asset Qualifications:
Certification as a Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP).
Experience in the project management of assessment and remediation of contaminated sites projects in remote locations.
Experience working in northern climates (north of the 60th parallel).
Experience working with the environmental regulatory framework in the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
Experience working in a hard rock mining environment.
