The Civilian Review and Complaints Commission for the RCMP (CRCC) is an agency of the federal government, distinct and independent from the RCMP. The Commission reviews and investigates complaints about the conduct of RCMP members. When reviewing a complaint, the Commission does not act as an advocate for either the complainant or the RCMP members. The Commission inquires into complaints independently and reaches conclusions after an objective examination of the information provided.
The immediate need is to staff one indeterminate position in Vancouver. A pool of qualified candidates may be established from this process and may be used to staff similar PM-6 positions in Vancouver and/or Ottawa, with varying tenures such as indeterminate or specified period, with various linguistic requirements (English essential or bilingual imperative CBC/CBC or CCC/CCC and various security clearances.
In the event that an employee of the public service is qualified through this process, and there is a temporary need, he/she may be considered for acting or assignment/secondment, deployment opportunities. The approval of his/her substantive supervisor will be required before an acting/assignment/secondment is offered.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post secondary institution with acceptable specialization in sociology, criminology, law related field, psychology, political studies or some other specialty relevant to the position.
Significant* experience in conducting criminal investigations.
*significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with full-time performance of duties for a minimum of five years (5)
Significant* experience in conducting interviews of suspects and witnesses in criminal investigations.

Experience in writing detailed investigative reports.
Experience in presenting findings and making recommendations to management both orally and in writing.
Police basic training from a provincial or municipal police force or the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (i.e. Depot Division).
Experience in managing complex projects. Complex is defined as involving multiple issues and multiple stakeholders.
Experience with major crime investigations
Experience working with Elders, Aboriginal peoples, communities or organizations.
Experience in working with diversity issues.
