Intent of the process

Although the immediate intent of this Job Opportunity Advertisement is to staff three (3) positions on an indeterminate basis, applicants should be aware that a pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements listed in the Language Requirements section. In addition, this process may be used for various tenures (acting appointments, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, specified period, secondment), security requirements and conditions of employment within Health Canada. In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in biology, chemistry, microbiology, toxicology, pharmacy, textile science, mechanical engineering or some other specialty relevant to the position.

Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.

Degree equivalency

Recent* and significant** experience providing advice based on the interpretation of guidelines, policies, standards or legislation (Acts or Regulations).

Recent* and significant** experience in leading the various stages of a program or project such as initiating, planning, organizing, monitoring and controlling, reporting, communication and closing. This excludes supervision.

Experience in developing two or more types of documents. Examples may include operating procedures, guidelines, action plans, briefing materials, risk communications, policy documents, regulations, reports, or correspondence.

NOTE:
* Recent is understood to be within the last five years.

** Significant is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of three years and for which these tasks are performed on an on-going basis as part of the main duties of the position.

Experience in the development of standards or regulations.

Experience conducting, monitoring or coordinating compliance or enforcement activities such as inspections, pertaining to consumer products, cosmetics, tobacco and vaping products, or controlled substances regulated by Health Canada.

Experience providing advice based on the interpretation of guidelines, policies, standards or legislation (Acts or Regulations) pertaining to consumer products, cosmetics, tobacco and vaping products, or controlled substances regulated by Health Canada.

Experience in conducting scientific studies, either in university or work experience.

Experience in stakeholder engagement or consultations.

Experience applying the Canadian federal regulatory process.

Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry.
