Work Location:
- Positions are located primarily in the National Capital Region (Ottawa-Gatineau), but opportunities may also exist in other regions across Canada.
Language requirements:
- This process will be used primarily to staff bilingual positions. A bilingual position is one in which you will be required to meet a language level of at least BBB (see: Information on language requirements). To determine your approximate language level, please take the self-assessment tests for both Written Expression and Reading Comprehension (see links above). Please note that there is also an oral exam, however no self-assessment test exists for this exam.
- We will also be asking you if you would undergo language testing for those who are not currently bilingual. For those who at bilingual, answering "No" to the question will still screen you in.
- A very limited number of unilingual positions may be available. Subject to demand, unilingual candidates will be assessed using other selection strategies such as considering asset criteria and possibly random selection.
- All information obtained throughout the selection process, from the time of application to close of process, may be used to evaluate the candidates.

A pool of qualified candidates resulting from this process will be established for all employment tenures (e.g., full-time permanent, temporary, etc.) on behalf of all federal government departments and agencies. There will be approximately 100 bilingual positions to fill from this pool and a limited number of unilingual positions.
The pool will be managed by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat and will be open to federal government organizations. As a result, candidates may be contacted to be further assessed.

Education:
- A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution* with specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics.
OR
Occupational Certification:
- Eligibility** for a recognized professional accounting designation. The recognized professional accounting designations are Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified General Accountant (CGA).
* Proof of Canadian equivalency for degrees obtained outside Canada must be provided at a later date.
** You’re eligible if you have met all academic and occupational requirements of the profession (including those with respect to examinations and experience), but have not obtained or maintained actual registration, certification or membership in the professional association.
Experience for Senior Financial Analyst (FI-03) candidates
Experience* in at least two of the following areas:
- Financial planning and budgeting;
- Financial reporting;
- Financial policy;
- Financial Systems;
- Internal Control;
- Accounting Operations;
- Auditing;
- Tax programs or services;
- Costing.
Experience for Manager, Financial Management (FI-04) candidates
Experience* in at least three of the following areas:

* The ideal candidate would have the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of approximately five (5) years for FI-03 candidates and eight (8) years for FI-04 candidates. We are looking for individuals who have dealt with multiple financial cycles, who have brought projects to fruition, who have established lessons learned, followed up on implementation and have corrected or enhanced results in a financial management environment. Experience for both FI-03 and FI-04 candidates:
- Experience providing financial management advice and guidance to either internal or external clients.
