Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff 2 positions (1 English essential and 1 Bilingual imperative BBB/BBB). A pool of fully and partially qualified candidates may be created to staff similar positions with various language requirements (Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, English Essential, French Essential, French or English), various security levels and different tenures (indeterminate, specific period,Acting, Assignment, Secondment).

EDUCATION
ED1-A minimum of a Master degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position (such as environmental, conservation, biological or zoological sciences).

EXPERIENCE
EX1-Experience leading, planning, or managing programs, projects or initiatives for the conservation of migratory birds.

EX2-Experience analyzing, interpreting and communicating scientific information on conservation issues related to ecosystems or wildlife species.

EX3-Experience leading or participating on multi-jurisdictional or multi-disciplinary teams or partnerships focused on wildlife, habitat or ecosystems.

EX4-Experience providing scientific advice to decision makers on ecosystem, habitat or species conservation issues.

AED1-Graduation with an advanced degree (Doctorate) from a recognized post-secondary institution in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position (such as environmental, conservation, biological or zoological sciences).

EXPERIENCE (Asset Qualifications)
AEX1-Experience working on policies regarding wildlife management.

AEX2-Recent* experience with Geographic Information software, such as ArcGIS or similar software.

AEX3-Experience working with environmental non-government organizations in Latin, Central or South American countries.

AEX4-Experience working with governments in Latin, Central or South American countries.

AEX5-Experience working with local communities in Latin, Central or South American countries.

AEX6-Experience working on threats to migratory birds from forestry, agriculture, energy, or fisheries sectors.

* Recent experience means experience obtained by the candidate in the two (2) years.

KNOWLEDGE (Asset Qualifications)
AKN1-Knowledge of monitoring techniques relevant to birds.

AKN2-Knowledge of initiatives used to mitigate and manage impacts to migratory birds.

AKN3-Knowledge of threats to migratory birds from forestry, agriculture, energy, or fisheries sectors.

AKN4-Knowledge of neotropical migratory birds ecology.

AKN5-Knowledge of shorebird ecology.

ABILITY (Asset Qualifications)
AAB1-Ability to communicate at a working level in Spanish.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Agrees and is able to work occasional overtime.
Willingness to occasionally travel.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

A pass mark will be established for each qualification. However, achieving the pass mark is not guarantee of an appointment or that candidates will be put through the next stages of the assessment process.
