Important messages

We are committed to providing an inclusive and barrier-free work environment, starting with the hiring process. If you need to be accommodated during any phase of the evaluation process, please use the Contact information below to request specialized accommodation. All information received in relation to accommodation will be kept confidential.

Assessment accommodation

PLEASE INDICATE WHICH STREAM(S) YOU ARE APPLYING FOR. YOU MUST ALSO INDICATE HOW YOU MEET THE ESSENTIAL AND ASSET REQUIREMENTS FOR EACH STREAM YOU IDENTIFY.

Candidates must clearly explain in detail how they meet the essential and asset education and experience qualifications by indicating HOW (clearly explain your duties), WHEN and for HOW LONG (date and length of time in months or years), and WHERE (employer and geographic location) this experience was acquired. One approach is to write one or two paragraphs demonstrating, with clear and accurate details, how you meet the criteria. A person may be appointed to the position without meeting any or all of the asset qualifications; however, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

Candidates must provide a contact email address and telephone number where they can be reached during the normal business week (Monday to Friday).

Work environment

Tired of working for a large, stuffy government department or a profit-driven private sector organization? Want to bring your ideas straight to the decision makers? Then the CRTC may be the place for you!

The CRTC is an administrative tribunal that regulates and supervises broadcasting and telecommunications in the public interest. Our work has a direct impact on the industry and on Canadians, which makes it real and relevant! We recognize the importance of communication services to Canadians and are dedicated to ensuring that Canadians have access to a world-class communication system. To do this, we collaborate with other countries to share knowledge and best practices and develop research partnerships with external organizations.

STREAM 1 - SENIOR POLICY ANALYST:

The CRTC looks at hot topics such as broadband and wireless services, designs and reviews policy frameworks to ensure proper regulation only when necessary, deals with issues between parties, is forward looking in gathering information about where the industry is going regarding issues, for instance like 5G deployment, and more. We also ensure that our activities and decisions take into account consumers' interests and concerns.

Our mission also consists of ensuring that Canadians have access to diverse and compelling creative content across a variety of platforms that reflects Canada’s diversity and enables Canadians to participate in their country’s democratic and cultural life. By joining our team, you will participate in the monitoring and regulation of industries that are at the centre of Canadian cultural life at a critical moment in their evolution.

We’re first and foremost looking for enthusiastic candidates and critical thinkers who can perform solid analysis of complex problems, identify key issues and develop sound recommendations, as well as write well and present their ideas effectively.

STREAM 2 - SENIOR ECONOMIC AND FINANCIAL ANALYST:

The CRTC oversees a 65 billion dollar industry that provides broadcasting and telecommunications services to Canadians and our decision makers need to take financial trends and issues into account.

The Financial and Economic Analysis teams at the CRTC are seeking critical-thinkers who are able to provide solid financial advice, are able to explain financial trends and considerations while taking into account the big picture, and can work well with colleagues in a fast-paced environment. If this matches your profile and experiences, be sure to apply also to Stream 2.

STREAM 3 - SENIOR ENFORCEMENT OFFICER:

The damaging and deceptive effects of unsolicited communications undermine Canadians’ trust in their communication networks and, more broadly, in the digital economy.

The Compliance and Enforcement Sector is looking for experienced investigators to join our small and dynamic team. We leverage technology and partnerships to achieve our mandate, and we are committed to providing staff with the tools and training to help you build your career and achieve your objectives. You will manage investigations that may result in the imposition of administrative monetary penalties, and could play a great role in spreading the word about who we are, what we do, and what businesses need to know to stay in compliance with the rules. If this matches your profile and experiences, be sure to apply also to Stream 3.
