The Aboriginal Initiatives team works within correctional services to help Aboriginal offenders find their way to healing while contributing to a healthy and safe community for a better future for all. Aboriginal liaison officers, as a member of the case management team, help identify and assess the healing needs of Aboriginal offenders and support Elders in establishing offender’s healing plans. They plan, develop, facilitate, evaluate and supervise cultural and traditional activities and interventions for Aboriginal offenders. They are also expected to provide reports and comments to parole officers.
A pool of candidates will be created and may be used to staff similar positions of permanent or temporary tenures within the Correctional Service of Canada in the Quebec region.

EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized university or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in the traditional, cultural and spiritual practices of Aboriginal teachings and values.
Experience working with Aboriginal Elders.
Experience in using a computer including word processing software such as Microsoft Word and WordPerfect.
Significant* experience working with or for Aboriginal communities and organizations.
*Significant experience is defined as a minimum of two years.
EXPERIENCE
Experience working with Aboriginal people in conflict with the law.
Experience with Correctional Service Canada.
