There are currently numerous vacancies at the AS-01/CR-05 group and level throughout the department in the National Capital Region.
A list of partially qualified candidates will be established and will be used to staff positions with various tenures, security profiles and language requirements within Fisheries and Oceans Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard.

Education:
• A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience:
• Experience providing client services in person, by phone or in writing.
• Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and email software such as Outlook.
• Experience in performing administrative services in at least two (2) of the following:
o Coordinating meetings;
o Coordinating teleconferences and/or videoconferences;
o Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence;
o Data entry;
o Editing and verifying correspondence or reports.
o Other related task
Asset Qualifications
Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization relevant to the position to be staffed.
Experience:
• Experience working in the federal public service.
• Experience working as an administrative assistant in a management office.
• Experience providing human resources services and support.
• Experience with data entry or data extraction using the PeopleSoft system or other automated human resources system.
• Experience providing financial support services such as reconciling financial transactions, verifying and paying invoices, extracting, reconciling, interpreting and compiling financial information for use by management, preparing budgets and financial spreadsheets or creating contracts and/or purchase orders.
• Experience in providing administrative support in contracting, procurement services or materiel management.
• Experience dealing with facilities and accommodation issues.
• Experience working in a Real Property environment within the federal public service.
• Experience providing support to the Access to information and privacy (ATIP) Analysts including tasking of routine access to information requests, preparation of records for review (i.e. triaging, scanning and indexing) and general administrative services (i.e. photocopying, mail services).
• Experience related to operational or corporate security

Applicants must complete the Unsupervised Internet Test of Cognitive Ability - Level 1 as part of the screening for this selection process. This test assesses general problem solving and reasoning ability. You will have 60 minutes to complete the test. You must complete the test before you submit your application for this position.

How does this process work? Please read below to find out!
STEP 1: Application
There are four (4) assessment methods during the online application process:
1 - Screening Questions: You will need to demonstrate how you meet each of the criteria in the Essential Qualifications and Asset Qualifications listed above in your online application. Do not forget to provide concrete examples of your work experience.
2 - Reverse Reference check: You will need to answer Text questions regarding the following criteria: Attention to details, Initiative, Interpersonal Skills and Reliability. You will also need to include the contact information of a supervisor or manager who can validate each example and provide additional feedback if needed. They will only be contacted if you are successful at all the stages and you will be notified before we communicate with your references.
3 - Unsupervised Internet Test Cognitive Ability Level 1 : You will need to complete the online assessment listed above that will be assessing Reasoning. Please note this is only the preliminary test, and if you are successful, you may be asked to be re-evaluated in a supervised setting.
4 - The Screening Questions, Reverse Reference check along with your CV will be used to assess the following criterion: "Ability to communicate effectively in writing".
STEP 2: Interview
There will be a brief interview using innovative tools such as Skype or video recording.
STEP 3: Reference check
Finally, we will contact the references provided in the first part of the process to validate the examples provided and provide additional feedback.
THE END: If successful at all stages, you will be placed on the list of partially-qualified candidates and referred to hiring managers.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Candidates will not be contacted further if they do not meet one or more criterion.
A random and/or top down selection of candidates may be used in the determination of those to be given further consideration in the assessment process.
