The intent of this process is to staff one (1) Full Time, English Essential Determinate position for a 12 month period in Gander, NL. A pool of qualified candidates may be created and may be used to staff identical or similar positions with various tenures, language profiles and security requirements.

EDUCATION:
A secondary school diploma OR An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Newfoundland and Labrador or Interprovincial Certificate of Qualification (*or equivalent) in one of the following trades:
• Carpenter
• Electrical
• Mechanical
• Plumber
(*Equivalent is defined as the Military Construction Engineer trades qualification QL5 or higher)
EXPERIENCE
EX1: Significant* and recent* experience supervising a multi-trade workforce within a building maintenance group.
EX2: Significant* and recent* experience developing, implementing or managing building and infrastructure construction or maintenance work.
*Recent and significant experience is defined as experience normally acquired for a period of at least 18 months in the last 5 years.
EX3: Experience working with the Microsoft Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
EX4: Experience in the interpretation of design drawings and specifications as related to construction.
EX5: Experience in contract administration, including writing Statements of Work, cost estimates and sketches of work requirements.
EX6: Experience developing Preventative Maintenance schedules and inspection plans in order to investigate and develop solutions to general problems associated with repair/maintenance activities.

EXPERIENCE:
AE1: Experience using the Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS) specific to Real Property Operations.
AE2: Experience in working for the Department of National Defence or the Canadian Armed Forces.
AE3: Experience with the Federal Government Contracting processes, including DND/PSPC/DCC.
AE4: Experience in applying Federal Government construction-related standards, codes, and legislation.
AE5: Experience in applying Federal Government occupational health and safety standards and codes, especially as related to construction sites.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
OR1: Willing and able to occasionally travel anywhere within Canada.
OR2: Willing and able to frequently travel within central Newfoundland.
OR3: Willing and able to work overtime when needed, sometimes on short notice.
OR4: Willing and able to respond to emergencies outside of normal business hours.
Reliability Status security clearance - - Possession of an unrestricted provincial driver’s license.
- Willing and able to obtain and retain DND 404 driver’s license.
- Willingness to possess or be capable of acquiring occupational health and safety certifications.
- Requirement to inspect work in physically demanding environments such as confined spaces, heights, outdoors in all seasons and noisy environments.
- Requirement to wear personal protective equipment (PPE)
