Environment and Climate Change Canada is a science-based department, and we provide the science and technology information needed so that Canadians can make informed decisions about the environment. In addition, Environment and Climate Change Canada's science and technology work helps us to protect and conserve our air, water, wildlife and spaces.
A pool of partially qualified candidates will be established and will be used to staff identical or similar positions with various language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual Imperative, BBB/BBB) and various security requirements within the Department of Environment and Climate Change Canada across Canada. These positions may be staffed on an indeterminate or temporary basis.

ED1: Education - Common to all Streams:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry, biology, earth or environmental science, geomatics or geography, or some other science relevant to the position.
Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
EX1: Experience for all streams:
Experience in writing or summarizing scientific and technical information or manipulation of data for the preparation documents such as reports, briefing materials, presentations or correspondence
Stream 1 – Water Quality/Quantity Science
EX2: Experience in applying scientific and technically recognized methods and protocols for the collection of environmental samples in the field

EX3: Experience in collecting, analyzing, interpreting and managing environmental samples or data.

Asset Criteria common to all streams
AEX1: Experience in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) computer software or imaging processing software such as ArcGIS, PCI-Geomatica, or MathWorks-MATLAB, R, Python or statistical analysis software such as SYSTAT.
AEX2: Experience in the use of spreadsheets or in the development of databases or the use or maintenance or large datasets.
AEX3: Experience contributing to the development or implementation of scientific or technical policies, regulations, programs or initiatives relating to environmental protection.
AEX4: Experience working with Indigenous communities/organizations.
