The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer is commonly known as Elections Canada. We are an independent, non-partisan agency that reports directly to Parliament. Our main mandate is to be ready to conduct a federal general or partial election or referendum. Our mandate includes other activities such as administering the political financing regime under the Canada Election Act, conducting public information campaigns, conducting studies on alternative voting methods, and many others.
Elections Canada normally has about 500 employees working in the National Capital Region. This number reaches some 1,200 employees approaching and following a general election.
In preparation for the next general election, the Electoral Integrity Office team is looking for analysts to support electoral preparations.

Intent of the process

Although the immediate goal of this process is to fill two positions for 2 years and one inderterminate position, this process could be used to create a BBB / BBB imperative bilingual pool and an essential French or English pool to fill various positions (permanent or temporary of various durations) within Elections Canada. Given the potential use of the selection process and subsequent pools established by hiring managers, we invite all applicants seeking such experience to apply.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

- A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization * in economics, sociology ** or statistics.
* Candidates must always hold a degree. Specialization courses must be acceptable and must have been taken to a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily as part of a degree program in the area of specialization required. Specialization may also include an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.
** Sociology includes specialization in economics, political science, anthropology, history, psychology, geography, criminology, and other social science fields.

Degree equivalency

Significant experience* in using qualitative and quantitative research approaches and methods in data collection.
*Significant experience is assessed based on the scope, complexity and diversity of the work performed, as well as the level of autonomy demonstrated for a range of files or projects.

Significant experience* in analyzing and synthetizing various types of data and/or socio-economic issues.
*Significant experience is assessed based on the scope, complexity and diversity of the work performed, as well as the level of autonomy demonstrated for a range of files or projects.

Significant experience* in writing reports, presentation or briefing material for presentation of research or analysis results.

Experience in providing advice to a manager or supervisor.
