Installs and performs preventative and corrective maintenance and removal of the following:
Lanterns and power systems on fixed and floating aids to navigation.
Foghorns
Radar beacons (Racon)
Marine Communication and Traffic Services peripheral sites.
Provides reports of activities to supervisor
The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) owns and operates the federal government's civilian fleet, and provides key maritime services to Canadians. As a Special Operating Agency of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO), the CCG helps DFO meet its responsibility to ensure safe and accessible waterways for Canadians. The CCG also plays a key role in ensuring the sustainable use and development of Canada's oceans and waterways.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada across Canada with various language requirements and various security requirements. These positions may be of different tenures.

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
A valid Ontario Electrician License.
Experience in the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment.
Experience with photovoltaic power systems.
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Outlook, Word and Excel.
Experience working with little or no supervision.
A valid Inter-provincial (Red Seal ) Electrical License
Fall Protection and Rescue certification.
Marine Emergency Duties (MED) – A3.
Restricted Radio Operator’s License.
Experience in the installation and/or maintenance of aids to navigation equipment and systems.
Experience climbing high towers of heights up to 35 meters high.
Experience in the maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems (such as diesel generators)
Experience using software for Life Cycle Management.
Commercial boating experience.
English essential

Knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of hand and power tools normally found in a repair facility.

Valid class G driver's license and willingness to drive an automobile vehicle or a light truck.
Willingness and ability to climb and work in high structure (towers) up to 35 meters high.
Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
Willingness and ability to travel for period up to six (6) weeks and to use various modes of transportation including helicopter, ships, planes and small boats.
Valid medical suitability.
Willingness and ability to walk on rough grounds in various weather conditions (cold weather, wind, rain, snow).
