Important financial information:
• Successful candidates may be eligible for staff housing and the reimbursement of some relocation costs.
• Isolated Post Allowances (Northern Allowance) ranges from $19,000 to $31,000 for Iqaluit, and from $8,000 to 14,000 for Hay River, which is based on if the employee has dependents or is occupying staff housing.
• Vacation Travel Assistance is provided twice per year for each eligible member of the household for Iqaluit and once per year for Hay River.

Nunavut Inuit (beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement) will be considered ahead of other applicants (including persons with priority entitlement and Veterans).

Fisheries and Oceans Canada is responsible for policies and programs in support of Canada's economic, ecological and scientific interests in oceans and inland waters; for the conservation and sustainable utilization of Canada's fisheries resources in marine and inland waters; for leading and facilitating federal policies and programs on oceans; and for safe, effective and environmentally sound marine services responsive to the needs of Canadians in a global economy.
The intent of this process is to staff 2 (two) permanent full-time positions and create a pool of qualified candidates which may be used to staff this and similar positions within the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada and other government departments located in Iqaluit, NU and Hay River, NT on a temporary or permanent basis.

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in biology, environmental science or a related field.
Experience in public consultations.
Experience in supervising staff.
Experience in managing a budget.
Experience in wildlife or fisheries management.
Experience working with one or more Canadian Aboriginal groups, organizations, or Boards related to fish or wildlife management.
STREAM 2 ONLY:
Experience in operating a motorized boat/vessel working with gill nets.
STREAMS 1 & 2:
Graduation with a Master’s Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization in biology, environmental science or a related field.
STREAMS 1 & 2:
Co-management experience working with Indigenous stakeholders and Federal and/or Territorial Governments regarding fish or wildlife management.

STREAMS 1 & 2:
Knowledge of morphological structures and methodology used in population assessments of fin fish.
STREAM 1 ONLY:
Knowledge of fin fish and marine mammals found in Nunavut, their life history and habitat requirements that are part of or support commercial, recreational or Aboriginal fisheries.
STREAM 2 ONLY:
Knowledge of fin fish found in Great Slave Lake and surrounding waterbodies, their life history and habitat requirements that are part of or support commercial, recreational or Aboriginal fisheries.
