Duties

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) employs close to 13,500 people and facilitates the flow of legitimate travelers and trade. The Agency also enforces more than 90 acts and regulations that keep our country and Canadians safe.

The Warrant Response Centre is a 24/7 operation that is responsible for providing support to regional CBSA officers and external law enforcement partners throughout North America, in relation to immigration status, immigration warrants and previously deported persons as per the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

Additionally it is responsible for the Border Watch Line which allows the public to report suspected cross border violations of legislation enforced by the CBSA.

The Warrant Response Centre is a 24/7 operation providing support to law enforcement. With staff required 24/7, these positions provide the opportunity to work shift work, earn shift premiums as a part of your compensation and an opportunity to earn overtime.

Persons appointed to these positions will have the opportunity to develop and prepare for career progression.

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff positions at the FB-01 group and level with various language requirements (i.e. Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB or Bilingual Imperative CBC/CBC) and various types of tenure (i.e. Indeterminate, Determinate/Term) within the Canada Border Services Agency in the National Capital region.

- A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (See Note 1).

- An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

- Experience using the Global Case Management System (GCMS).
- Experience working in a 24-hour shift work environment.
- Experience working at the Canada Border Services Agency.
- Experience working in the Federal Government.

Conditions of employment

Secret security clearance - Security Level: Secret

• Obtain and Maintain Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) access.
• Variable shift schedule. This is a shift work operation, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including weekends and statutory holidays.
• Overtime, often on short notice.

LEAVE/ABSENCES DURING THIS SELECTION PROCESS: It is the responsibility of the candidate to notify the Departmental contact of any pre-approved leave throughout the duration of the process in order to facilitate scheduling of evaluations. One (1) alternate date will be possible only if requested for the following reasons: 1) Medical reasons with doctor’s certificate 2) Death in your immediate family 3) Confirmation of pre-approved travel plans or training plans (made before the advertisement posting date) 4) Religious reasons or 5) Participation in an assessment for another selection process.

Please note that achieving the pass mark on any of the assessments used does not mean you will move forward in the selection process. Management may decide to use a score that is higher than the pass mark on any of the evaluations used throughout the selection process. Management may also decide to use top-down selection at any stage of the process.

Management may choose to invoke an asset(s) at any point of the process.
