Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to staff two (2) indeterminate positions in Edmonton, Alberta.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and may be used to staff future indeterminate and /or temporary vacancies in Edmonton, AB within the RCMP. In the event of a temporary vacancy, the following staffing actions may be used and /or considered: acting appointment, term appointment, assignment or secondment.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Information you must provide

Your résumé.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of an acceptable post-secondary educational program in Electronics, telecommunications, Avionics, computer science, information technology, information management, any other speciality emphasizing electronics studies or, another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed. An acceptable combination of education, training and experience may be accepted.

*Proof of education including transcripts will be required.

Degree equivalency

Recent* and significant** experience with troubleshooting, repairing, modifying and maintaining Land Mobile radio communications equipment, or any variety of sophisticated electronics equipment.

Recent* experience utilizing electronics test equipment (Such as oscilloscopes, RF communications analyzers, signal generators, multimeters etc.) and test procedures in both analog and digital systems.

Recent* experience preparing technical reports and documentation.

*Recent experience is defined as within the past 5 years.
**Significant is defined as a minimum of 2 years’ experience

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Electronics, telecommunications, Avionics, computer science, information technology, information management, any other speciality emphasizing electronics studies or, another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Degree equivalency

Experience with Motorola Land Mobile Radio end user equipment.
Experience with Harris P25 trunked radio systems.
Experience with other vendor P25 trunked radio systems.
Experience in Information Technology Projects.
Experience working with robotics technology in a work or academic setting.
Experience working with Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) in a work or academic setting.
Experience installing technical equipment in a variety of vehicles.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment.

Willing and able to travel extensively including to remote sites. Travel can be by any mode of transportation including vehicle, boat, helicopter or small plane.

Willing and able to work outside of normal
core hours when required.

Willing and able to work overtime as required.

Willing and able to be on call.

Willingness and ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.

Willing and able to work in confined areas such as vehicles, aircraft and boats.

Willing and able to perform work duties in inclement and uncomfortable weather conditions such as rain and extreme cold.

Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
