Healthy Environments and Consumer Safety Branch (HECSB) mission is to help Canadians to maintain and improve their health by promoting healthy and safe living, working and recreational environments and by reducing the harm caused by tobacco, alcohol, controlled substances, environmental contaminants, and unsafe consumer and industrial products.
Work done within the HECSB's Programs touches on many aspects of day-to-day living in Canada; issues like drinking water, air quality, alcohol and drug use, toy safety, smoke detectors, the safety of cosmetics and personal care products, and second-hand smoke, as well as how new products of biotechnology and new chemicals may affect Canadians, fall within the scope of HECSB's mandate.
A pool of qualified candidates (fully assessed or partially assessed) may be established and may be used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language requirements listed in the Language Requirements section. In addition, this process may be used for various tenures (acting appointments, assignment, deployment, indeterminate, specified period, secondment), security requirements and conditions of employment within Health Canada. Your résumé.
The minimum standard is:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, geology, chemistry, biology or some other science relevant to the position.
Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily within a degree program in the required specialization.
Experience:
• Experience in a field associated with protecting the environment or human health.
• Experience in data collection, research, or analysis of scientific/technical information on environmental or human health issues.
• Experience writing scientific/technical documents such as research reports, data reports, guidance documents or discussion papers.
