Work environment

Detachment Services Assistant provides administrative and operational support services for police officers and other employees at a Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment. This position also provides front counter and telephone assistance, services and information to the general public.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one (1) indeterminate position on a part-time basis at the Claresholm Detachment. Once the position is converted to full-time status, the successful candidate will be expected to work 37.5 hours per week. A pool of qualified candidates will be created and may be used to fill future vacancies in the Southern Alberta District of the RCMP.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Successful completion of two years of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience. *Proof of education will be required prior to appointment.

Degree equivalency

Experience in the provision of administrative support services including three of the following: data entry, preparing correspondence, ordering office supplies, filing and processing mail.

Experience in using computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, or databases.

Experience providing service to internal or external clients / general public, via telephone or in person.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience in transcribing statements from audio cassettes and/or digital media.

Experience working in a law enforcement or legal environment

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status (ERS) security clearance.
Those selected must meet and maintain the above condition of employment throughout their employment.
» » The successful applicant will have to obtain, as a minimum, an RCMP Reliability Status. The process requires a Security/Reliability Interview, a field investigation in matters of credit/finances, education, employment, references, etc.
