Join us in our quest to engage young people in Canada’s democracy. Elections Canada’s Civic Education Program develops learning resources and activities for primary and secondary classrooms and we work with educators to reach students all across Canada. Our goal: foster knowledge, understanding, skills and interest in electoral participation and active citizenship.

Intent of the process

The intent of this selection process is to staff a fifteen month term (determinate) position with a possibility of extension. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions within Elections Canada with various tenures (indeterminate or varying specified periods) and various linguistic profiles (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC or CCC/CCC).

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution or an *acceptable combination of education, training or experience
*Definition of “acceptable combination”: A minimum of one year of post-secondary education and at least one year of experience in project coordination in a communications or outreach environment

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience working on communications projects in an office dedicated to communications, outreach, public consultation, civic education or stakeholder engagement
Experience in providing advice and recommendations to supervisors or management on communications, outreach or engagement issues
Recent* experience in the development or implementation of a variety of communications products such as brochures, publications, educational materials, presentations, or Web or social media content
*Recent experience in project management in a communications or outreach environment
*Recent experience in coordinating events or projects that involve internal and external stakeholders
*Recent experience in assisting in either the development or implementation of programs related to public consultation, civic education or stakeholder engagement
*Definition of “recent”: Recent experience is defined as experience acquired within the last five (5) years

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in working on education-related projects and/or developing communications products for educators, children and youth
Experience in teaching or making public presentations
Experience in liaising with and coordinating the work of external service providers such as advertising agencies, graphic designers, linguists, printing companies, production companies, or communications consultants
Experience carrying out or assisting with procurement-related activities
Experience in processing or reviewing invoices
Experience in developing or editing content within a content management system such as Drupal
