The Federal Government is re-initiating consultations with Indigenous Peoples for the Trans Mountain Expansion Project. A team is being established to ensure consultation with Indigenous Peoples is done the right way. No relationship is more important to the government than the one with Indigenous Peoples.
This opportunity will be challenging but rewarding. As this Project has substantial potential Economic and Environmental Benefits, as well as extensive involvement and consultation with Indigenous Peoples, it is important that we find team members just as passionate about the work as we are.

Intent of the process

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), various language requirements (English Essential and Bilingual) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC, CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (reliability or secret), various conditions of employment and for various locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in economics, sociology or statistics

Candidates must always have a university degree. The courses for the specialization do not necessarily have to be part of a degree program in the required specialization. The specialization may also be obtained through an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Recent* and significant** experience analyzing issues, developing recommendations and providing strategic advice to senior management***:
Experience in the preparation of briefs, presentation decks, reports or material for senior management**;
Experience in collaborating or engaging with Indigenous Peoples to discuss issues affecting Indigenous Peoples;
Recent* and significant** experience developing partnerships or establishing linkages and/or collaborative activities with internal and external partners.

Recent* is defined as experience gained as part of the regular duties of the candidate over the past 5 years.

** Significant experience is defined as experience associated with the performance of a large number of complex activities, taking into consideration the scope of duties and responsibility level normally possessed by an individual who has worked in this area for approximately two years (24 months).

***Senior management includes the equivalent of Director, Senior Director in the private sector, or Director General level and above in the Federal Public Service.

*In this context, awareness is identified as an understanding of the diversity of the culture, the history, legal rights, politics and an understanding of the top issues for Indigenous Peoples; both politically and socially.
Knowledge of the Government of Canada’s policies and priorities as they pertain to natural resources, including the federal regulatory framework for pipelines.
