Work environment

► Would you like to stimulate your creative side and join a team of highly skilled dynamic researchers?◄

The department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) is looking to recruit researchers with various quantitative profiles. ISED research activities are anchored in the performance principle of providing value-added knowledge. These activities act as a complement to the existing literature and research available within the Government of Canada, recognized research organizations such as universities, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as well as within think tanks like the C.D. Howe Institute or the Kauffman Foundation. The research activities undertaken at ISED seek to provide evidence-based knowledge required for guiding the development of socio-economic policy in areas under the general purview of the department. Given that seventeen federal departments and agencies make up the Innovation, Science and Economic Development Portfolio, the department has interest in multiple topics affecting the new economy. Core topics include:
• enhancing innovation performance,
• improving conditions for investment,
• promoting business creation and growth,
• increasing share of global trade,
• maintaining a fair/efficient and competitive marketplace, and
• developing industry research tools (e.g. developing metrics and data).

The research analyst duties include:
• designing and executing research projects, including data mining, survey development, statistical analyses and written reports;
• querying databases and using statistical software to extract, manipulate and analyze data; and
• quickly providing economic information for the department’s senior management.
