Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution (relevant fields such as social sciences, education, health, Indigenous studies, could be given preference);
• Acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience (such as First Nations community-based child, youth and family practice, human rights, regional operations or national program/policy development and management inside or outside the public service – minimum of 10 years).
Experience at a senior level of management in collaborating and partnering with First Nations and Inuit leaders or organizations. For the position of Executive Director, Northern region, it is important to have worked with health professional organizations, provincial or territorial governments.
Experience in policy development and analysis :
1- For Executive Director, Northern region position, we will focus on related experience to the Northern Regions of Canada, with consideration to the needs and contexts of Northern Indigenous peoples.
2- For the Executive Director, Jordan's principle, we will focus on experience related to First Nations and Inuit children and child development.
Experience in leading organizational change management/operational transition.
Experience in the management of human and financial resources.
Experience managing programs or services tailored to First Nations and/ or Inuit.
Experience managing health, education or social programs, services or operations in a regional context.
Experience with organizational reform preferably in a reconciliation context.
Bilingual - Imperative (CBC/CBC)
Non-imperative appointments will be considered for Indigenous candidates under the Aboriginal Peoples Employment Program.
Information on language requirements
We expect candidates applying for the position of Executive Director, Northern region:
to know about the current federal government priorities, trends and objectives as they relate to Canada’s Indigenous peoples in the North;
to know about territorial First Nations and Inuit partners and their health priorities, and how these interact with territorial health, social and other systems;
to understand what is self-government and what are land claim policies, agreements and frameworks, especially pertaining to those in the Northern provinces/territories of Canada.
As for the candidates interested in the Executive Director, Jordan Principle, we expect them to know: to know about the current federal government priorities, trends and objectives as they relate to Canada’s Indigenous peoples in advancing social justice, equity and reconciliation; to know of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal decisions on Jordan's Principle, and their impact on the Government of Canada's implementation approach; and to know of First Nations and Inuit governance and partnerships approaches, and the Government of Canada's consultation requirements.

For the position Executive Director, Northern region: Willingness to travel monthly to the Canadian North including the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
