The intent of this selection process is to staff a fifteen month term (determinate) position with a possibility of extension. A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff similar positions within Elections Canada with various tenures (indeterminate or varying specified periods) and various linguistic profiles (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC or CCC/CCC).

A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in communications, political science, journalism, public relations or other specialty relevant to the position.
Recent* and significant ** experience developing and writing a variety of communications products such as key messages, news releases, speeches, briefing materials, Web content, brochures, backgrounders, social media messages, or presentations.
Recent* experience conducting consultations and providing communications advice to management and clients in support of organizational priorities or initiatives.
Recent* experience in developing or implementing either outreach, consultation or communications strategies or plans.
DEFINITION:
*Recent is defined as having performed the work within the last 5 years.
**Significant experience is defined as the breadth, depth and complexity of responsibilities normally associated with having performed such duties over a period of one year or more.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
Various linguistic profiles may also include CBC/CBC or CCC/CCC.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the Government of Canada Policy on Communications and Federal Identity.
Knowledge of communications trends and best practices.
Knowledge of project management.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
Recent* experience in leading or participating in projects involving many players.
Experience in developing communications products for specialized target audiences such as educators, students, Indigenous communities and people with disabilities.
Experience in media monitoring (print, social and broadcast media).
Experience in leading projects, from conception through completion and follow-up.
Experience in preparing purchasing, procurement or contracting documents, or in the management of contracts.

Reliability Status security clearance
Availability and willingness to work overtime, often on short notice.
