The Office of the Commissioner of Official Languages (OCOL) is a small organization of 160 employees that offers a positive and collaborative work environment. OCOL strives to foster a work environment in which employees are actively encouraged to work in the official language of their choice – where employees can feel comfortable exercising their right to work in their first official language, and where they can feel comfortable in practising their second official language.
The Commissioner of Official Languages is mandated by Parliament. He is therefore independent from the government, but his staff are members of the federal public service and benefit from all of the related advantages, including flexible work, competitive salaries and professional development.
OCOL has a Workplace 2.0 fit-up with open-concept offices, quiet rooms, meeting rooms and collaborative areas for team work. Employees are equipped with laptops and have Wi-Fi access throughout the office space. The new eco-friendly building is located at 30 Victoria St. in Gatineau and is close to public transit, parking, bike and walking paths, shops and services. The building offers indoor bike storage, as well as women's and men's change rooms with showers.
Immediate need: 3 PM-04 positions and 1 PM-05 position to be staffed on an indeterminate basis.
A pool of qualified candidates could be established to staff these positions and similar positions with various tenures and security requirements within organizations where appointments are made under the authority of the PSC and the PSEA with the approval of the delegated manager in consultation with Human Resources.

EDUCATION
ED1: Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution OR a satisfactory score on the General Intelligence Test (GIT-310)* (PSC Test approved as a post-secondary diploma)
The term "degree" refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities
*In reference to the General Intelligence Test 310 which will be administered, as needed, as part of the process.
EXPERIENCES
STREAM 1 AND 2
EXP1: Recent* and significant** experience in conducting policy research, performing analysis and writing research and other documents (e.g., reports, position papers, briefing documents) on complex*** issues.
EXP2: Recent* and significant** experience in providing strategic advice and recommendations to senior management.
STREAM 2 ONLY
EXP3: Experience in establishing and maintaining partnerships/networks with federal institutions or with stakeholders outside the federal public service.
EXP4: Experience in leading multidisciplinary working groups.
*Recent experience is defined as within approximately the last six (6) years.
**Significant experience is defined as experience associated with having performed related activities, which could normally be acquired over a period of three (3) years.
