Education:
Graduation with a degree* from a recognized post-secondary institution or, an acceptable combination of training or experience related to the position.

*Degree: Unless it is otherwise specified (e.g., Master's degree), the term "degree" refers to a baccalaureate as established by educational authorities.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Recent* and significant** experience in providing written and verbal strategic advice, briefings and recommendations to a Board of Directors (GICs), to an Assistant Deputy Head or Deputy Head or equivalent such as a V.P. or President, to Senior Management (defined as Director, Director General level or equivalent), or to a Minister, or Ministers’ staff.
• Recent* and significant** experience in dealing with legislative and regulatory issues involving provincial and territorial governments, other federal departments and portfolio sector partners.
• Significant**experience evaluating regulatory proposals and assessing their impact on industry and federal policies and programs.
• Significant** experience in building and maintaining productive partnerships or stakeholder networks.
• Recent* experience at a senior level (Director (EX) minus one level and above) in developing and assessing proposals as well as monitoring operations and providing consultative services to partners and stakeholders.
• Recent* experience in managing human*** and financial resource****.

*Recent is defined as within the last five (5) years.
**Significant experience is understood to mean the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex, related activities, which are normally acquired over a period of at least three (3) years.
***Managing human resources is defined as: Applicants must clearly demonstrate that they have supervised staff, assigned work, managed and assessed performance and developed or contributed to the development of staffing plans. Applicants must indicate the number of staff they supervised. This experience is normally acquired over a period of a minimum of three (3) year within the last five (5) years. Clear and specific examples should be provided by applicants in their application and demonstrate evidence of accountabilities, deliverables and level of complexity.
****Managing financial resources is defined as: being responsible for sound financial planning, forecasting and reporting. Applicants must also indicate the size of the budget they managed directly or indirectly. This experience is normally acquired over a period of a minimum of three (3) years within the last five (5) years. Clear and specific examples should be provided by applicants in their application and demonstrate evidence of accountabilities, deliverables and level of complexity.

Education:
Post-graduate degree from a recognized institution.

Experience:
• Experience dealing with supply management issues
• Experience of working in a trade environment on files such as handled by the WTO, NAFTA or Federal/ Provincial/Territorial agreements for regulated commodities.
• Experience interpreting legislation and providing advice to Senior Management based on assessment.
