Duties

The Accounting Policy Division is seeking a Senior Accounting Advisor to join the Accounting Policy Division (APD) for a one-year term. The Accounting Policy Division is leading the OSFI project on IFRS 17 Insurance Contracts Accounting Standard and need a person for the project team to Identify and communicate financial reporting risks at the industry level, either from industry practices or accounting and reporting.

The Senior Accounting Advisor will also:
● Develop accounting guidelines (as required) setting out OSFI’s accounting and reporting requirements.
● Provide advisory, due diligence, onsite and educational support to the Supervision, Regulation and Corporate Services Sectors.
● Participate in working with external standard setters and international regulatory groups as required.

Intent of the process

This selection process may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates, which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various linguistic profiles and requirements, security profiles and various tenures.

● A university degree
● Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada designation or equivalent

Recent and significant experience in one or more of the following areas:
● Financial reporting or accounting policy functions within a bank or insurer.
● Auditing banks or insurers.
● Supervision of banks or insurers.
