A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar positions within the Department of Public Services and Procurement Canada across Canada. Education:
Professional certifications: Possession of a valid third class Ontario provincial or Ontario Standardized Operating engineer certificate issued by the Ontario Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA). Candidates with out of province certification must be recognized by TSSA at the Third class level.
Note: Candidates which have successfully completed and obtained all 3rd class exams and only require steam time may apply.
Experience:
Experience in the operation of large oil and gas fired high pressure boilers and refrigeration units.
Experience in monitoring and adjusting plant equipment to meet operational requirements.
Experience in maintenance in a large central heating and cooling plant.
Various language requirements

Knowledge:
Knowledge of large heating and refrigeration equipment and systems.
Knowledge of procedures and methods prescribed for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of large heating and refrigeration equipment and systems.
Knowledge of Standard Plant Safety Procedures.
Abilities:
Ability to monitor operating equipment and systems.
Ability to operate high pressure plant equipment.
Ability to maintain plant equipment.

Asset Qualifications:
Possession of a higher certification.
Graduation from a post-secondary institution specific to the Operating Engineering program.
Operational Requirement:
Willingness and ability to work variable hours, shift work.
Reliability Status security clearance - AND Secret security clearance
Proposed appointees must accept assignments within the National Capital area and work on a regular, rotating or irregular hours of work and/or schedule
