Duties

•Responsible for the operation and maintenance of the building's mechanical facilities.

•Carry out scheduled preventive maintenance, internal maintenance and emergency repairs, as well as refurbishment work on all operative parts of the building's mechanical facilities.

•Working from reference data and building plans, carry out diagnostic tests on rotating components of mechanical systems and carry out basic inspections of the diesel generators.

•Maintain up-to-date paper and computerized records and write up reports on facility breakdowns and defects, machinery and hazardous materials and corrective measures taken.

•To facilitate building management, provide the supervisor with information on the operation of the building's mechanical facilities and its repair and replacement requirements, in addition to estimates of the time required for repairs.

•Perform administrative tasks, such as entering data into computer systems.

•In emergency situations, help other employees working in various trades.

•Act as a replacement for employees in other trades, in accordance with own skills and qualifications.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION

Acceptable combination of training and experience in the maintenance of mechanical systems (air conditioning, ventilation, heating and plumbing) and in building maintenance and repair.

Degree equivalency

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION

Valid 4th class Stationary Engineman Certificate and Class B refrigerating equipment certificate issued by the Province of Quebec.

Information on language requirements

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of the principles, methods and practices governing the operation, repair and maintenance of air conditioning, ventilation, heating, automatisation system, and plumbing systems.

Knowledge of basic electricity principles.

Knowledge of current building maintenance and minor building repair methods and techniques.

Knowledge of water treatment techniques and analyses in hydraulic heating and cooling circuits (boilers, cooling towers, etc)

Knowledge of security principles related to the use, handling and storage of chemicals and hazardous materials (WHMIS).

Competency card or certificate of operator of elevating lifting device such as hydraulic nacelle and scaffolding.

Training in confined space.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Available for travel for two to three days

Conditions of employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Various security clearance: Reliability Status and conditional employment with the obtention of a security clearance from the client.

•To hold a valid driver’s license.
•Be available to work overtime on short notice.
•Be available according to the rotation schedule established with other technicians for service cals outside normal business hours.
•Wear required clothing and safety Equipment.
