EDUCATION
Successful completion of a 3 or 4 year post-secondary program from a recognized university, college or institute in biology, biochemistry, toxicology or other discipline related to the position.
EXPERIENCE
EEx1. Extensive (minimum three years) and recent (within the last five years) experience in planning and conducting in vivo or in vitro biological or chemical laboratory assays;
EEx2. Extensive (minimum three years) and recent (within the last five years) experience in operating and trouble-shooting scientific laboratory instrumentation;
EEx3. Extensive (minimum three years) experience with scientific data collection, analysis and record keeping;
EEx4. Experience with molecular techniques relating to genomic, transcriptional or proteomic analyses; OR Experience with biochemical techniques such as immunochemical assays, colorimetric assays, enzyme assays; OR Experience with analytical techniques such as chromatography;
EEx5. Experience using computer software for spreadsheets, databases, and statistical analysis;
EEx6. Experience in handling, disposing of and keeping inventory of hazardous chemicals or biohazards in accordance with the appropriate laboratory safety procedures;
EEx7. Experience in performing laboratory procedures independently, reproducibly and accurately.

Successful completion of a post-graduate degree from a recognized university in biology, biochemistry or other discipline related to the position.
EXPERIENCE
AEx1. Extensive (minimum three years) and recent (within the last five years) experience with molecular techniques relating to genomic, transcriptional or proteomic analyses;
AEx2. Extensive (minimum three years) and recent (within the last five years) experience with biochemical techniques such as immunochemical, colorimetric or enzyme assays.
AEx3. Experience with bioinformatics and data analyses relating to “omics” methodologies
AEx4. Experience with analytical chromatography techniques (e.g., gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, with or without mass spectrometry detection);
AEx5. Experience in organizing and conducting animal experiments involving laboratory rodents;
AEx6. Experience performing cell or tissue culture;
AEx7. Experience in managing or assisting in managing a laboratory for a research scientist (this excludes supervision);
AEx8. Recent (within 2 years) experience in a nutrition, biochemistry or toxicology laboratory.
