Help bring research to life and drive your career forward with the Collection Planning and Research Division at Statistics Canada.
We are looking for:
• talented Data Scientists to join our growing data collection research team;
• enthusiastic people to work on statistics and predictive analytics projects across a broad range of social, agricultural and business surveys;
• dynamic, results-oriented and hands-on people to efficiently deliver solutions;
• inquisitive, science-oriented people who apt at formulating hypotheses and resolve operational issues;

Under the direction of the Data Collection Research and Innovation team management team, the incumbent will plan, manage, and carry out a wide range of research and innovation projects.
The intent of this process is to staff INDETERMINATE (permanent) position Data Collection Research and Innovation Section of Statistics Canada.
An eligibility list may be established for similar positions within the Collection Planning and Research Division for a one year period.

Your résumé.
Education
• Master’s degree in statistics, computer science, engineering, or closely related field;or
• A Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics or engineering with experience with data collection and analysis of collection results and strategies could be considered.
• Preference will be given to candidates with specialized training in machine learning, data science or statistics.
Experience
Recent* experience in at least two (2) following aspects of statistical programs in the domain of data analysis:
• Experience in analyzing data and the presentation of reports
• Experience in working with statistical analysis software, such as Statistical Analysis Software (SAS) or R.
• Experience using quantitative analysis and statistical methods
• Experience in the use of various machine learning and Intelligence Artificial Software
*Recent experience is defined as approximately acquired in the past 2 years.
Knowledge
• Significant knowledge of analysis and statistical methods and machine learning techniques.
• Knowledge of algorithms.

• Asset: Experience in data collection methods and strategies
• Asset: Hands-on experience of large-scale data sets (big data).

English or French essential.
