Duties

Under the supervision of the Property and Facility Manager, the incumbent ensures full provision of expertise and advice related to operations; preventive maintenance; repairs; and the building and installation of mechanical, electrical, architectural plumbing, refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems in the buildings managed by PSPC, including specialized facilities.

Key activities

Directs and verifies required maintenance, repairs and replacements following scheduled maintenance inspections and minor fit-up and modification projects (-25K) in response to client requests.

Provides specialized technical advice, offers options and makes recommendations to solve routine or anticipated technical and operational problems relating to the operation of mechanical and electrical facilities, controls and equipment. Plans and directs the implementation of corrective measures carried out by his/her permanent and/or contract employees.

Analyses and interprets requests from in-house clientele to add equipment to networks, or to modify electro-mechanical components, and provide technical advice and guidance regarding possible options.

Develops plans and schedules to inspect and maintain technical facilities; directs the conduct of building inspections to identify weaknesses in infrastructure and equipment operation systems and to identify any maintenance, repairs, replacements or improvements required.

Takes and updates inventories of equipment and develops strategies for conducting maintenance, repair and improvement activities to comply with applicable legislation.

Manages a team of multi-disciplinary employees and supervises the delivery of technical services provided by his/her employees and contractors.

Diploma of College Studies (DCS) in building mechanics or an acceptable combination of education and experience in the operations and maintenance of office buildings, laboratories or special-purpose buildings.

Degree equivalency

ŸRecent (see note 1) and significant experience in operating and maintaining building systems, such as ventilation, refrigeration, heating, control and fire protection systems.
Ÿ
Recent (see note 1) and significant experience in awarding, tracking and monitoring service contracts performed by private sector businesses.
Ÿ
Experience in supervising employees AND managing activities related to building operation and maintenance.
Ÿ
Experience in client-centred service delivery of building or facility management.

Note 1: “Recent experience” means experience acquired in approximately three out of the past four years.

ASSETS
•Valid 4th class Stationary Engineman Certificate and Class B refrigerating equipment certificate issued by the Province of Quebec
•Qualification card in a construction trade
•Specialized training or certificate in property management (e.g., BOMA Facilities Management Administrator (FMA) or IFMA Certified Facility Manager (CFM))

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENT
- Available for travel for two to three days

Conditions of employment

•Various security clearance: Reliability Status and conditional employment with the obtention of a security clearance from the client.
•To hold a valid driver’s license
•Be available to work overtime on short notice.
•Wear required clothing and safety equipment
•Be available according to the rotation schedule established with other technicians
